Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office Issues 'Burn Ban'

The Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office has issued a "Burn Ban' across our state due to the dry conditions throughout.

For many areas in Louisiana, it has been weeks since rain has fallen and the ground and brush are very dry.

Any small fire that is started can lead to a major issue and that is what the Fire Marshal's Office is hoping to avoid.

A number of fire departments across the state have been responding to multiple grass or field fires that have "gotten out of hand" and that is why this ban in Louisiana has been issued.

If you see any open fire in your community, you are encouraged to call your local fire department.

And for anyone thinking about burning a pile of debris or field in the days ahead, you've been warned to not light the match. The only exception for someone to start an open fire is if they receive permission from their local fire authorities.
